Interesting technique! How did you do that?
Really simply!! It was using the 'sparks' brush in Gimp (though making my own animated brush with no transparency would have been better) to give an uneven effect to the marks (intended to look like chalk on a black board).
Then, I simply looked at a photo and broke everything down into highlights lowlights and midtones, and those areas were what I drew, as blocky, flat shapes. I did each tone on a separate, transparent layer so I could be messier without going over the other shades. Then I simply altered the colours to more sepia-ish tones using colour filters.
